Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has informed about the rollover of the $2 billion loan payment. The Emir of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also expressed happiness over the hospitality of Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the country cannot develop without reducing electricity prices, and work is being done with full unity to eliminate the heinous business of human trafficking. Addressing the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, he said that he met Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday. The meeting with the Emirati President discussed strengthening bilateral relations and investment. He added that he requested Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to invest in the loan target, to which Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan assured full cooperation. Shehbaz Sharif said that the UAE has informed about the decision to rollover the $2 billion due this month (January). The Prime Minister said that the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) is the backbone of Pakistan’s development and prosperity, but unfortunately, it has not played a significant role in it. There was not even a board of SMEDA, which was set up during the meeting last week. The federation and the provinces will make it successful together. During the meeting, it was decided to set up a comprehensive strategy and some decisions have been taken. Another meeting will be called on January 15. Shahbaz Sharif said that the textile sector and exports are increasing. “We have to focus on an export-oriented economy,” he said. “This month, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, with whom we have brotherly relations, is visiting Pakistan. We discussed the agenda and investment in a meeting yesterday on the occasion of his arrival.”
