Anti-terrorism court of Islamabad has removed the name of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi from 12 cases of May 9. Ejaz Asif said, in the hearing held in Adiala Jail, the court ordered the exclusion of Bushra Bibi’s name from 12 cases. On behalf of Bushra Bibi, Salman Safdar, Muhammad Faisal Malik, Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry advocate appeared. Nawaz Sharif and Zardari-backed Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, on the order of the military ruler, had put the name of Imran Khan’s wife in the May 9 anti-army protest cases due to political opposition, which has now been dismissed by the Anti-Terrorism Court. Bushra was named in the cases of attacks on other sensitive places including BBGHQ and ISI office, the police had filed an application seeking summons and physical remand of the accused, earlier on August 12. The court dismissed former first lady Bushra Bibi’s interim bail application in 12 cases on May 9, but today the anti-terrorism court dismissed 12 cases against her.
It should be remembered that last year on May 9, 2023, after the arrest of Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case, there was a nationwide protest by the PTI and meanwhile, on May 9 in the Model Town area of Lahore. Apart from the burning of the office of Muslim League (N), military, civil and private installations were set on fire, public and private properties were seriously damaged while at least 8 people were killed and 290 injured.
