White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt has said that US President Donald Trump is committed to rebuilding Gaza and temporarily relocating the people there. The US president will use the financial resources of Washington’s allies in the Middle East to rebuild Gaza, while the US will not pay for the reconstruction of Gaza in any way. The spokesperson said that the Trump administration is going to work with Arab partners in the region to rebuild the region. The spokesperson added that Trump has not yet committed to sending US troops to Gaza.
It should be noted that on Tuesday, President Trump announced that the United States would take control of the Gaza Strip and turn it into the Riviera of the Middle East by clearing the rubble of buildings destroyed in the war between Israel and Hamas. When asked if he would send American troops to the enclave, Trump said he would do what was necessary. The American leader added that Palestinians should be relocated to nearby states with the money of their wealthy Arab neighbors.
When asked if the United States wanted to forcibly remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, a White House spokesman said that President Trump wants to help rebuild Gaza for the Palestinians and all stakeholders in the region. Regarding whether Gazans who wish to remain in the Strip will be allowed to do so, Levitt said that President Trump is committed to rebuilding Gaza and temporarily relocating the people there.
Levitt said that US President Trump has spoken to several leaders of Arab states and has made it very clear that he expects Egypt and Jordan to accept Palestinian refugees. On the other hand, Jordanian King Abdullah has rejected Trump’s proposal. Earlier, Saudi Arabia had stressed that it would not establish relations with Israel until all parties formally recognize the Palestinian state. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the kingdom categorically rejects efforts to displace any Palestinians from their land.
