A report out of the White House said that outgoing US President Joe Biden has delegated the decision to designate the Syrian ruling Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militant group to Donald Trump. The foreign-backed militants led by HTS seized control of Damascus on December 8 and declared the end of Bashar al-Assad’s rule after a surprise offensive that began in a rebel stronghold in northwestern Syria and reached the capital Damascus in less than two weeks. The US had earlier lifted a $10 million bounty on HTS leader Abu Muhammad al-Julani after a high-level US delegation met with him, but his group remains on the US list of foreign terrorist organisations. The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that the Biden administration has designated HTS leaders, including al-Julani, as terrorists. The US will keep the HTS militant group on the list until the end of its term and the final decision will be left to the incoming President Donald Trump. The sources also emphasized that the HTS militant group must completely cut ties with terrorist organizations, especially Al-Qaeda, and will be monitored by US intelligence agencies and will have to confirm on an annual basis that HTS is not affiliated with terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS. This American tactic has been very tried and tested for both political parties in Washington. The US administration uses this tactic to impose its will on many third world countries, but the matter regarding Syria is very complicated. Currently, Syria is geographically divided between three powers. Both the US and Turkey provided Hayat Tahrir al-Sham with weapons and financial resources so that it could reach Damascus, but the goals and objectives of these two countries are contradictory. The third power is Israel, which has occupied a significant area of Syria, and its 77-year history is a testament to the fact that it can easily retake the territory it has occupied. Could not be rescued.
Syria currently has the support of all political opponents of the resigned President Bashar al-Assad, but the Kurdish linguistic unit is divided into two groups. One group is supported by the United States and the other group is supported by Turkey. 42 percent of the population in Turkey is Kurd and they are not happy with the government of Tayyip Erdogan. Turkey’s Erdogan government has been accusing them of being part of a secret movement for an independent Kurdish homeland. It would be a difficult situation for Turkey to become part of an Arab country divided on linguistic grounds while its security would also be threatened. However, dividing Syria on linguistic grounds is not at all a threat to the United States. If Syria is divided on linguistic grounds, the United States will only benefit from it. The United States is still pursuing a policy of undermining Syria’s sovereignty on linguistic and religious grounds. The European Union and the United States are meeting with the ruler of Damascus, Farman al-Julani, and are promising to gradually lift the sanctions imposed to overthrow the Bashar al-Assad government. Earlier this week, the US Treasury Department The restrictions on financial transactions imposed during the Assad regime have been relaxed for six months. The purpose of this is very clear, namely, to maintain the armed group that has brought it to Damascus through the wealth of wealthy Arab countries. But for this, Al-Jolani has to sacrifice his ideologies. Western countries are sending messages to Al-Jolani to control religious extremism, but still the violence against religious opponents continues, which America and Europe have turned a blind eye to because Israel has to take advantage of this. Whenever Muslims clash, America and Israel are the beneficiaries. In this situation, the resistance forces’ policy of patience has certainly hindered the nefarious intentions of America and Europe. However, American and Israeli intelligence, with the support of British intelligence, MI5, are actively working against the policy of patience. It should be noted that MI5 has centuries-old expertise in dividing Muslims and promoting mutual discord, and many Arab families in the region are part of the MI5 network. There are parts that have been their helpers for generations.
The presidency that the US wants to install Donald Trump on is full of thorns. One example of this is the issue of removing Hayat Tahrir al-Sham from the list of terrorist organizations. Biden does not want to put any such stigma on the Democrats’ shoulders as he goes, the consequences of which he is currently unaware of. ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and the Taliban are examples of armed organizations that the US created, but after the passage of time, these organizations became a headache for it. A significant change has taken place in West Asia. Joseph Aoun, the unanimous presidential candidate of the US and Saudi Arabia, has been elected president of Lebanon. His election was made possible with the help of Hezbollah and its ally, the Shiite organization Amal. Joseph Aoun’s main task is to secure the northern areas occupied by Israel from Hezbollah. In return, the US has allowed the wealthy Arab countries of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates to rebuild the areas of southern Lebanon affected by the recent Israeli bombing.
