Officials in Zehri tehsil of Khuzdar district of Balochistan said that on Wednesday, armed men attacked and set fire to government and private properties, but no casualties were reported in these attacks. Commissioner Kalat Division Muhammad Naeem Bazai told the media over the phone that the number of attackers was around 80, who came armed with modern weapons and came on vehicles and motorcycles. He said that the properties that were set on fire included a private bank, NADRA office and Levies police station. According to Naeem Bazai, immediately after the attack, the Frontier Corps, Police Levies Force and Counter Terrorism Force have cleared Zehri city and nearby areas. Earlier, on the night of December 7, unknown persons had damaged and burnt historical statues and government properties in Kalat. According to Kalat City Police Station Officer (SHO) Habib-ur-Rehman, attempts were made to damage these statues and monuments earlier as well and the statues were partially damaged. An administration official in Khuzdar said that the attackers riding on vehicles and motorcycles Around 70 to 80 armed men entered Zehri Town at 12:30 p.m.
Habib-ur-Rehman said that the armed men set fire to the Levies Force police station, NADRA office and a bank in the area and damaged them. However, no casualties were reported in the attack. The banned militant organization Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack. He said that Zehri is located in a difficult mountainous area where there was no information or fear of any such attack. He said that security forces, including FC, Levies Force and police, took action in the area after receiving information about the presence of the attackers and cleared the area. Several videos are also circulating on social media regarding the attacks by armed men in Zehri town. In one of these videos, a masked man is also addressing people in the Brahui language. However, these videos have not been confirmed by the authorities. Zehri tehsil is located southeast of Khuzdar city, next to Jhal Magsi district. It is a difficult mountainous area of Balochistan, the majority of whose population is made up of the Zehri tribe.
